A New Beginning in Africa
Commissioning of Dr. Emmanuel Mbennah
In May 2009, Dr Emmanuel Mbennah was commissioned as TWR Africa’s International Director in Johannesburg, South Africa. He succeeds Rev. Stephen Boakye-Yiadom who passed away in June 2007.
Greetings were read from every corner of Africa, from Burundi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Benin and South Africa, as directors gave Emmanuel and his wife, Ruth, messages from the heart. From Malawi they heard the message, “When God calls, He equips.”, and from Côte d’Ivoire, the message that God had this event “planned before the creation of the world”.
Lauren Libby, President of TWR International, was also in attendance. In his message to the Mbennahs, he said, “Emmanuel and Ruth, you are entering into an investment in the lives of many people, proclaiming the name of Jesus.” He advised them to “spend a lot of time with Jesus” and added that “Jesus is the chairman of our board.”
Speaking on leadership, Libby referred to the training Timothy received from Paul. “You, therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” (2 Timothy 2:1-2)
A prayer of commissioning followed Libby’s message. Emmanuel and Ruth knelt before the audience. Some of Emmanuel’s new staff laid their hands on the couple as they committed their new leader to the Lord.
“I am here to serve my family of TWR and my continent of Africa,” Emmanuel said. Referring to Ruth, he added, “Our hearts and minds are here to serve you.” |
