Benin
Transmitter, West Africa.

God
has wonderfully opened the doors for Trans World Radio to
build a new transmitter facility in Benin, West Africa.
After
more than five years of intense prayer and thorough research
concerning a new transmitting site in West Africa, we are
in awe of God’s marvellous grace and timing in answer
to our prayers. The invitation to build our transmitter was
issued personally by the president of Benin—and we could
not have asked for a more central or strategic location!
The need
for strong, clear, and frequent Gospel programming in West
Africa is enormous. It is one of the most strategic areas
of the world for the future growth of Christianity, yet other
religions are strong in the region and frustrate the spread
of the Gospel. The church too has a desperate need for sound
Bible teaching and help with its witness. All the factors
in West Africa cry out for a greatly increased presence of
Gospel radio.
Once in
operation, the broadcasts will reach Benin, Togo, parts of
Nigeria, Ghana, Mauritania, Algeria, Mali, Niger, and Burkina
Faso. With God’s blessing, the spiritual benefits for
the people and church in these countries will be huge.
The possibilities
for dynamic broadcast ministry from this new site are incredible.
This
location will give TWR access to well over 200 million people
in West Africa and surrounding areas, including many places
where other major religions are very strong and
outreach “on the ground” is very difficult. Once
the facility in Benin is operating, we will be able to broadcast
in more languages immediately, due to lower costs and the
interest expressed by a number of partners to broadcast from
this facility. The potential is to broadcast the Good News
of Jesus Christ in 45 to 50 languages within five years of
start-up. This would be tremendous growth from the 20 languages
in which we presently broadcast to West Africa.
