How to Help

Descendants of the ancient Turkic people, the Uyghur's are a proud and independent people with a rich and colourful heritage of poetry, song and dance.

The Uyghur's (pronounced "wee-ghurs") live in the heart of Asia. They are mostly Muslim, mainly farmers and shepherds whose families are very important to them – indeed those who decide to follow Jesus risk being rejected by their families and their community.

There are few believers amongst the 9-10 million Uyghur's scattered across Central Asia - mainly in China but also in countries like Afghanistan, Kazakhstan , Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. It has been estimated that almost 5 million of them have never heard the Gospel – Christian witness is almost non existent, and the only practical way to take the Gospel to most of these areas is by radio.

TWR's vision is to broadcasting two 30-minute evangelistic programmes each week starting summer 2005, praying that by broadcasting to the homes and workplaces of the Uyghur's, God will plant seeds and bring the harvest amongst these important people. The amazing fact is that it costs only £77 to produce and broadcast a 30 minute Gospel programme.
