In many families it is the habits and values of the older generations which shape the attitudes and beliefs of the younger family members. We saw proof of this when a young listener from Ukraine wrote to tell TWR of how her Grandmother’s listening habits have influenced the entire household. She wrote:

“I would like to sincerely thank you for such useful programmes. I am listening with great joy, and I will admit that this is because of my 89 year old Grandmother! Every evening she listens to all kinds of programmes. At that time I am usually already in bed in the next room, but I can hear this very well.

I am 20 years old and my name is Galina. For a long time, I have wanted to write to you, but somehow I did not dare. I believe there are many young people like me that listen because of their grandparents. Your listeners are not just elderly people, but with them their children and grandchildren listen too.

Because elderly people do not hear well, the radio is on very loud. So your programmes are sounding through the whole house, to be heard by all. This is the case in my house.

Rejoice and continue your blessed ministry.”

This idea of God’s word being heard throughout entire households because of the listening habits of just one family member is a moving one. Please join us in praying that this scenario will be mirrored many times over, all around the world, and that families will come together as they learn more of God and what it means to follow Him.
