Hope for Syria, an Arabic-language radio programme produced by TWR, was recently selected by the National Religious Broadcasters to receive the 2017 International Strategic Partnership Award.
TWR’s director of Arabic Ministries accepted the award last week at the NRB International Christian Media Convention in Orlando, Florida, saying:
“On behalf of TWR, I am grateful and humbled to receive this award. I am also honoured to be part of such a vital programme to reach Syrians for Jesus Christ, and I believe what we are doing now will resonate for decades to come.”
The International Strategic Partnership Award is presented to an organisation that has forged an effective partnership with an indigenous ministry. The partnership must include cooperation with indigenous co-workers, sensitivity to cultural distinctives, and an impactful Christian outreach.
Back in 2013, TWR launched Hope for Syria to help provide biblical hope, peace and comfort to the people of strife-torn Syria. The 15-minute Arabic programme airs twice a week and focuses on the psychological effects of trauma and fear; medical-related matters; and spiritual encouragement. Syrian refugees can even use a mobile app (www.refugeebridge.com) to access programmes.
Thanks to the partnership of TWR’s Arabic department with the local church in Syria, many are being reached for Christ. Please join us in praying for long-term peace in Syria, and for God to continue speaking into these situations that can often seem so hopeless.
