The ministry of TWR Bangladesh is seeing explosive growth in the number of radio home groups across the country. At the end of 2018, after nearly a year of activity, there were 330 radio home groups. By the end of May 2019, we received a report stating that there were now 806 radio home groups, and as of December 2020, there were 1687 active groups!
Radio home group members in Bangladesh have shared with us some of the ways in which this ministry is impacting their lives:
“I was attending the radio home group regularly and heard many messages on Jesus Christ. After a while, I realized that I was a sinner, and I confessed my sins to Jesus Christ. I put my hope in Jesus to forgive my sins, and I received him as my personal Saviour and Lord. Please pray for my family as I am the only believer in my family.”
“Praise God! By using the radio home kit, I can share the gospel with my neighbours and people in my church.”
“I was living my life as usual. I didn’t have a firm belief in Jesus Christ, but I was baptised. When I got involved with the radio home group, I started listening to audio lessons from the Bible. In my heart, I felt something new and, day after day, my faith increased. I have now truly surrendered my life to Jesus Christ, and I try to walk in accordance with his Word. Thank God almighty.”
“Listening to the Gospel of Mark, I now understand that Jesus really is the Son of God”.
“I had little understanding of God’s Word or of how to pray. I began listening to the Word of God on a daily basis with my group members after joining a radio home group in January 2020. I have now heard a great deal about the Word of God and Jesus Christ. I have learned how to pray to the Lord. I thank God for giving me the privilege of joining the radio home group.”
“I am a church pastor and I minister amongst a variety of ethnic groups. In January 2020, I joined a radio home group community. After leading the radio home group session, I would take the radio kits to my ministry area, so that the people could listen to the wonderful lessons too. The radio home kits made my job of evangelising easy! The people would listen to the Word of God more readily and learn more in-depth by listening to the lessons. Slowly their faith grew, and 15 families (40 people) received Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour. Praise the Lord! They were baptised on 26 September 2020. We thank God for his wonderful work through the radio programme. Thanks to TWR Bangladesh for providing a wonderful radio kit with audio lessons.”
What incredible testimonies of the impact of media! The team in Bangladesh selected 200 radio home group leaders to be trained using Discipleship Essentials (DE) and to receive copies of DE to use with their radio home groups. In November, the team conducted their first training session with 60 of these radio home group leaders. The team also had the opportunity to share about DE at a Pastor and Leader’s conference. Each of the 150 pastors and leaders who attended received a copy of DE on an SD card.
